7 For the vineyard of Jehovah of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah [a]his pleasant plant: and he looked for justice, but, behold, [b]oppression; for righteousness, but, behold, a cry.
8 Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no room, and ye be made to dwell alone in the midst of the land! 9 In mine ears saith Jehovah of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant.

7 The vineyard(A) of the Lord Almighty
is the nation of Israel,
and the people of Judah
are the vines he delighted in.
And he looked for justice,(B) but saw bloodshed;
for righteousness,(C) but heard cries of distress.(D)
Woes and Judgments
8 Woe(E) to you who add house to house
and join field to field(F)
till no space is left
and you live alone in the land.
9 The Lord Almighty(G) has declared in my hearing:(H)
“Surely the great houses will become desolate,(I)
the fine mansions left without occupants.
