¹⁹ to those who say, “Let God hurry;
    let him hasten^(A) his work
    so we may see it.
The plan of the Holy One^(B) of Israel—
    let it approach, let it come into view,
    so we may know it.”^(C)

²⁴ Therefore, as tongues of fire^(A) lick up straw^(B)
    and as dry grass sinks down in the flames,
so their roots will decay^(C)
    and their flowers blow away like dust;^(D)
for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty
    and spurned the word^(E) of the Holy One^(F) of Israel.

⁶ Shout aloud and sing for joy,^(A) people of Zion,
    for great^(B) is the Holy One of Israel^(C) among you.^(D)”

¹⁹ Once more the humble^(A) will rejoice in the Lord;
    the needy^(B) will rejoice in the Holy One^(C) of Israel.

¹¹ Leave this way,^(A)
    get off this path,
and stop confronting^(B) us
    with the Holy One^(C) of Israel!”

“Because you have rejected this message,^(E)
    relied on oppression^(F)
    and depended on deceit,
¹³ this sin will become for you
    like a high wall,^(G) cracked and bulging,
    that collapses^(H) suddenly,^(I) in an instant.
¹⁴ It will break in pieces like pottery,^(J)
    shattered so mercilessly
that among its pieces not a fragment will be found
    for taking coals from a hearth
    or scooping water out of a cistern.”

“In repentance and rest^(M) is your salvation,
    in quietness and trust^(N) is your strength,
    but you would have none of it.^(O)
