² This is the word of the Lord
your Maker, the one who formed you from the womb:
He will help you.
Do not fear, Jacob my servant,
Jeshurun^[a] whom I have chosen.^(A)

⁴ I call you by your name,
for the sake of my servant Jacob^(A)
and Israel my chosen one.
I give a name to you,
though you do not know me.

²⁷ But you, my servant Jacob, do not be afraid,^(A)
and do not be discouraged, Israel,
for without fail I will save you from far away,
and your descendants from the land of their captivity!
Jacob will return and have calm and quiet
with no one to frighten him.
