Isaiah 4
New American Standard Bible
A Remnant Prepared
4 For seven women will take hold of (A)one man on that day, saying, “We will eat our own bread and wear our own clothes, only let us be called by your name; (B)take away our disgrace!”
2 On that day the (C)Branch of the Lord will be beautiful and glorious, and the (D)fruit of the earth will be the pride and the beauty of the (E)survivors of Israel. 3 And it will come about that the one who is (F)left in Zion and remains behind in Jerusalem will be called (G)holy—everyone who is (H)recorded for life in Jerusalem. 4 When the Lord has washed away the filth of the (I)daughters of Zion and [a]purged the (J)bloodshed of Jerusalem from her midst, by the (K)spirit of judgment and the (L)spirit of [b]burning, 5 then the Lord will create over the entire area of Mount Zion and over her assemblies (M)a cloud by day, and smoke, and the brightness of a flaming fire by night; for over all the (N)glory will be a canopy. 6 And there will be a (O)shelter to give shade from the heat by day, and refuge and [c]protection from the storm and the rain.

Isaiah 4
New Living Translation
4 In that day so few men will be left that seven women will fight for each man, saying, “Let us all marry you! We will provide our own food and clothing. Only let us take your name so we won’t be mocked as old maids.”
A Promise of Restoration
2 But in that day, the branch[a] of the Lord
will be beautiful and glorious;
the fruit of the land will be the pride and glory
of all who survive in Israel.
3 All who remain in Zion
will be a holy people—
those who survive the destruction of Jerusalem
and are recorded among the living.
4 The Lord will wash the filth from beautiful Zion[b]
and cleanse Jerusalem of its bloodstains
with the hot breath of fiery judgment.
5 Then the Lord will provide shade for Mount Zion
and all who assemble there.
He will provide a canopy of cloud during the day
and smoke and flaming fire at night,
covering the glorious land.
6 It will be a shelter from daytime heat
and a hiding place from storms and rain.
