³³ For ^(A)a burning place^[a] has long been prepared; indeed, for the king it is made ready, ^(B)its pyre made deep and wide, with fire and wood in abundance; ^(C)the breath of the Lord, like a stream of sulfur, kindles it.

³¹ And they have built the high places of ^(A)Topheth, which is in ^(B)the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, ^(C)to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, ^(D)which I did not command, nor did it come into my mind. ^32 (E)Therefore, behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when it will no more be called ^(F)Topheth, or ^(G)the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter; ^(H)for they will bury in Topheth, because there is no room elsewhere.

⁶ therefore, ^(A)behold, days are coming, declares the Lord, when this place shall no more be called Topheth, or ^(B)the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter.

¹¹ and shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: So will I break this people and this city, ^(A)as one breaks a potter's vessel, ^(B)so that it can never be mended. ^(C)Men shall bury in Topheth because there will be no place else to bury. ¹² Thus will I do to this place, declares the Lord, and to its inhabitants, making this city ^(D)like Topheth. ¹³ The houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah—^(E)all the houses on whose ^(F)roofs offerings have been offered ^(G)to all the host of heaven, and ^(H)drink offerings have been poured out to other gods—shall be defiled ^(I)like the place of Topheth.’”

¹⁴ Then Jeremiah came from ^(J)Topheth, where the Lord had sent him to prophesy, ^(K)and he stood in the court of the Lord's house and said to all the people:
