Good News Translation
2 and then God will bring disaster on the city that is called “God's altar.” There will be weeping and wailing, and the whole city will be like an altar covered with blood. 3 God will attack the city, surround it, and besiege it. 4 Jerusalem will be like a ghost struggling to speak from under the ground, a muffled voice coming from the dust.

2 Yet I will besiege Ariel;(A)
she will mourn and lament,(B)
she will be to me like an altar hearth.[a](C)
3 I will encamp against you on all sides;
I will encircle(D) you with towers
and set up my siege works(E) against you.
4 Brought low, you will speak from the ground;
your speech will mumble(F) out of the dust.(G)
Your voice will come ghostlike(H) from the earth;
out of the dust your speech will whisper.(I)
