² For You have made a city into a ^(A)heap,
A ^(B)fortified town into a ruin;
A ^(C)palace of strangers is a city no more,
It will never be rebuilt.

² Therefore behold, the days are coming,” declares Yahweh,
“That I will cause a ^[a](A)trumpet blast of war to be heard
Against ^(B)Rabbah of the sons of Ammon;
And it will become a desolate heap,
And her ^(C)towns will be set on fire.
Then Israel will take ^(D)possession of his possessors,”
Says Yahweh.

⁶ So I will make Samaria a ^(A)heap of ruins in the field,
^(B)Planting places for a vineyard.
And I will ^(C)pour her stones down into the valley
And will ^(D)lay bare her foundations.
