26 Your rowers have brought you out into great and deep waters; the east wind has broken and wrecked you in the heart of the seas.

27 Your riches, your wares, your merchandise, your oarsmen and your pilots, your caulkers, your dealers in merchandise, and all your men of war who are in you, with all your company which is in your midst, sink in the heart of the seas on the day of your ruin!

28 The waves and the countryside shake at the [piercing] sound of the [hopeless, wailing] cry of your pilots.

29 And down from their ships come all who handle the oar. The mariners and all the pilots of the sea stand upon the shore

30 And are heard wailing loudly over you, and they cry bitterly. They cast up dust on their heads; they wallow in ashes,

26 Your oarsmen take you
    out to the high seas.
But the east wind(A) will break you to pieces
    far out at sea.
27 Your wealth,(B) merchandise and wares,
    your mariners, sailors and shipwrights,
your merchants and all your soldiers,
    and everyone else on board
will sink into the heart of the sea(C)
    on the day of your shipwreck.
28 The shorelands will quake(D)
    when your sailors cry out.
29 All who handle the oars
    will abandon their ships;
the mariners and all the sailors
    will stand on the shore.
30 They will raise their voice
    and cry bitterly over you;
they will sprinkle dust(E) on their heads
    and roll(F) in ashes.(G)

26 Thy rowers have brought thee into great waters: the east wind hath broken thee in the midst of the seas.

27 Thy riches, and thy fairs, thy merchandise, thy mariners, and thy pilots, thy calkers, and the occupiers of thy merchandise, and all thy men of war, that are in thee, and in all thy company which is in the midst of thee, shall fall into the midst of the seas in the day of thy ruin.

28 The suburbs shall shake at the sound of the cry of thy pilots.

29 And all that handle the oar, the mariners, and all the pilots of the sea, shall come down from their ships, they shall stand upon the land;

30 And shall cause their voice to be heard against thee, and shall cry bitterly, and shall cast up dust upon their heads, they shall wallow themselves in the ashes:
