⁴ Therefore I say, “Turn your gaze away from me,
Let me ^(A)weep bitterly,
Do not insist on comforting me concerning the destruction of the daughter of my people.”

^18 [a]My ^(A)sorrow is beyond healing;
My ^(B)heart is faint within me!

¹⁷ But ^(A)if you will not listen to it,
My soul will ^(B)cry in secret for such pride;
And my eyes will bitterly weep
And flow down with tears
Because the ^(C)flock of Yahweh has been taken captive.

¹⁸ Their ^(A)heart cried out to the Lord,
“O ^(B)wall of the daughter of Zion,
Let your ^(C)tears run down like a river day and night;
Give yourself no relief;
Let ^[a]your eyes not be still.
