⁶^(A)that struck the peoples in wrath
with unceasing blows,
that ruled the nations in anger
with unrelenting persecution.

New International Version

⁶which in anger struck down peoples^(A)
with unceasing blows,
and in fury subdued^(B) nations
with relentless aggression.^(C)

³¹The Assyrians will be terror-stricken at the voice of the Lord, ^(A)when he strikes with his rod.

³¹The voice of the Lord will shatter Assyria;^(A)
with his rod he will strike^(B) them down.
