12 On that day you will say:
“I will praise You, Lord,
although You were angry with me.
Your anger has turned away,
and You have had compassion^(A) on me.

³ For the Lord will comfort Zion;^(A)
He will comfort all her waste places,
and He will make her wilderness like Eden,^(B)
and her desert like the garden of the Lord.^(C)
Joy and gladness will be found in her,
thanksgiving and melodious song.

⁹ Be joyful, rejoice together,
you ruins of Jerusalem!^(A)
For the Lord has comforted His people;^(B)
He has redeemed Jerusalem.

² to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor,^(A)
and the day of our God’s vengeance;^(B)
to comfort^(C) all who mourn,

¹³ As a mother comforts her son,
so I will comfort you,^(A)
and you will be comforted in Jerusalem.

¹⁰ Nations, hear the word of the Lord,
and tell it among the far off coastlands!^(A)
Say: The One who scattered Israel will gather him.
He will watch over him as a shepherd guards his flock,
¹¹ for the Lord has ransomed Jacob
and redeemed him from the power of one stronger than he.^(B)
12 They will come and shout for joy on the heights of Zion;
they will be radiant with joy^(C)
because of^(D) the Lord’s goodness,
because of the grain, the new wine, the fresh oil,^(E)
and because of the young of the flocks and herds.
Their life will be like an irrigated garden,
and they will no longer grow weak from hunger.
¹³ Then the young woman will rejoice with dancing,
while young and old men rejoice together.
I will turn their mourning into joy,^(F)
give them consolation,
and bring happiness out of grief.
¹⁴ I will refresh the priests with an abundance,^[a](G)
and My people will be satisfied with My goodness.
This is the Lord’s declaration.
