16 “Wash(A) yourselves, make yourselves clean;
Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes.
(B)Cease to do evil,
17 Learn to do good;
Seek justice,
Rebuke [a]the oppressor;
[b]Defend the fatherless,
Plead for the widow.
18 “Come now, and let us (C)reason together,”
Says the Lord,
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
(D)They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool.
19 If you are willing and obedient,
You shall eat the good of the land;

3 It (A)may be that the house of Judah will hear all the adversities which I purpose to bring upon them, that everyone may (B)turn from his evil way, that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.”
4 Then Jeremiah (C)called Baruch the son of Neriah; and (D)Baruch wrote on a scroll of a book, [a]at the instruction of Jeremiah, all the words of the Lord which He had spoken to him. 5 And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, “I am confined, I cannot go into the house of the Lord. 6 You go, therefore, and read from the scroll which you have written [b]at my instruction, the words of the Lord, in the hearing of the people in the Lord’s house on (E)the day of fasting. And you shall also read them in the hearing of all Judah who come from their cities. 7 It may be that they will present their supplication before the Lord, and everyone will turn from his evil way. For great is the anger and the fury that the Lord has pronounced against this people.”

3 Perhaps(A) when the people of Judah hear(B) about every disaster I plan to inflict on them, they will each turn(C) from their wicked ways; then I will forgive(D) their wickedness and their sin.”
4 So Jeremiah called Baruch(E) son of Neriah,(F) and while Jeremiah dictated(G) all the words the Lord had spoken to him, Baruch wrote them on the scroll.(H) 5 Then Jeremiah told Baruch, “I am restricted; I am not allowed to go to the Lord’s temple. 6 So you go to the house of the Lord on a day of fasting(I) and read to the people from the scroll the words of the Lord that you wrote as I dictated.(J) Read them to all the people of Judah(K) who come in from their towns. 7 Perhaps they will bring their petition(L) before the Lord and will each turn(M) from their wicked ways, for the anger(N) and wrath pronounced against this people by the Lord are great.”
