Message to Ethiopia

18 Woe, land of whirring wings
Which lies beyond the rivers of ^[a]^(A)Cush,
²Which sends messengers by the sea,
Even in ^(B)papyrus vessels on the surface of the waters.
Go, swift messengers, to a nation ^[b]^(C)tall and smooth,
To a people ^(D)feared ^[c]far and wide,
A powerful and oppressive nation
Whose land the rivers divide.
³^(E)All you who inhabit the world, and live on earth,
As soon as a flag is raised on the mountains, ^(F)you will see it,
And as soon as the trumpet is blown, you will hear it.

⁴For this is what the Lord has told me:

“I will quietly look ^[d]from My ^(G)dwelling place
Like dazzling heat in the ^[e]^(H)sunshine,
Like a cloud of ^(I)dew in the heat of harvest.”
⁵For ^(J)before the harvest, as soon as the bud ^[f]blossoms
And the flower becomes a ripening grape,
He will cut off the shoots with pruning knives,
And remove and tear away the spreading branches.
⁶They will be left together for mountain birds ^(K)of prey,
And for the animals of the earth;
And the birds of prey will spend the summer feeding on them,
And all the animals of the earth will spend harvest time on them.
⁷At that time a gift of tribute will be brought to the Lord of armies
^[g]From a ^(L)people ^[h]tall and smooth,
From a people feared ^[i]far and wide,
A powerful and oppressive nation,
Whose land the rivers divide—
To the ^(M)place of the name of the Lord of armies, to Mount Zion.

Galatians 6

Bear One Another’s Burdens

6 ^(A)Brothers and sisters, even if a person is caught in any wrongdoing, you who are ^(B)spiritual are to ^(C)restore such a person ^(D)in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you are not tempted as well. ²^(E)Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill ^(F)the law of Christ. ³For ^(G)if anyone thinks that he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. ⁴But each one must ^(H)examine his own work, and then he will have reason for ^(I)boasting, but ^[a]to himself alone, and not ^[b]to another. ⁵For ^(J)each one will bear his own load.

⁶^(K)The one who is taught ^(L)the word is to share all good things with the one who teaches him. ⁷^(M)Do not be deceived, ^(N)God is not mocked; for ^(O)whatever a person sows, this he will also reap. ⁸^(P)For the one who sows to his own flesh will reap ^(Q)destruction from the flesh, but ^(R)the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit. ⁹^(S)Let’s not become discouraged in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we ^(T)do not become weary. ¹⁰So then, ^[c]^(U)while we have opportunity, let’s do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the ^(V)household of ^(W)the faith.

¹¹See with what large letters I have written to you ^(X)with my own hand! ¹²All who want ^(Y)to make a good showing in the flesh try to ^(Z)compel you to be circumcised, simply so that they ^(AA)will not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. ¹³For those who ^[d]are circumcised do not even ^(AB)keep ^[e]the Law themselves, but they want to have you circumcised so that they may ^(AC)boast in your flesh. ¹⁴But ^(AD)^[f]far be it from me to boast, ^(AE)except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, ^(AF)through ^[g]which the world has been crucified to me, and ^(AG)I to the world. ¹⁵For ^(AH)neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a ^(AI)new ^[h]creation. ¹⁶And all who will follow this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the ^(AJ)Israel of God.

¹⁷From now on let no one cause trouble for me, for I bear on my body the ^[i]^(AK)marks of Jesus.

¹⁸^(AL)The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be ^(AM)with your spirit, ^(AN)brothers and sisters. Amen.

60 God, ^(A)You have rejected us. You have ^[d]^(B)broken us;
You have been ^(C)angry; ^(D)restore us!
²You have made the ^[e]^(E)land quake, You have split it open;
^(F)Heal its cracks, for it sways.
³You have ^[f]^(G)made Your people experience hardship;
You have given us ^[g]wine to ^(H)drink that makes us stagger.
⁴You have given a ^(I)banner to those who fear You,
That it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah
⁵^(J)That Your ^(K)beloved may be rescued,

⁹Who will bring me into the besieged city?
Who ^[k]will lead me to Edom?
¹⁰Have You Yourself not ^(V)rejected us, God?
And ^(W)will You not go out with our armies, God?
¹¹Oh give us help against the enemy,
For ^(X)rescue ^[l]by man is worthless.
¹²^[m]Through God we will ^(Y)do valiantly,
And it is He who will ^(Z)trample down our enemies.
