6 În anul morţii regelui Uzia, L-am văzut pe Stăpânul şezând pe un tron înalt şi măreţ, marginea mantiei Lui umplând Templul[a]. 2 Deasupra Lui stăteau serafimi. Fiecare avea şase aripi: cu două îşi acopereau feţele, cu două îşi acopereau picioarele şi cu două zburau. 3 Strigau unul către altul şi ziceau:
„Sfânt, sfânt, sfânt este Domnul Oştirilor!
Întreg pământul este plin de slava Lui!“
4 Uşorii[b] şi pragurile s-au cutremurat de glasul lor, iar Casa s-a umplut de fum. 5 Am strigat:
„Vai de mine! Sunt pierdut!
Căci sunt un om cu buze necurate,
şi trăiesc în mijlocul unui popor tot cu buze necurate,
iar ochii mei au văzut pe Împăratul, Domnul Oştirilor!“
6 Atunci unul dintre serafimi a zburat spre mine cu un cărbune aprins în mână, pe care-l luase cu cleştele de pe altar. 7 Mi-a atins gura cu el şi a zis:
„Iată! Cărbunele acesta ţi-a atins buzele.
Acum vina ta este dată la o parte şi păcatul tău este ispăşit.“
8 Apoi am auzit glasul Stăpânului, întrebând:
– Pe cine să trimit? Cine va merge pentru Noi?
– Iată-mă! Trimite-mă! am zis eu.
9 El a zis:
– Du-te la cei din poporul acesta şi spune-le:
„Să ascultaţi întruna, dar să nu înţelegeţi
şi să priviţi mereu, dar să nu pricepeţi!“
10 Împietreşte inima celor din acest popor!
Fă ca urechile lor să audă greu şi închide-le ochii,
ca nu cumva să vadă cu ochii, să audă cu urechile,
să înţeleagă cu inima, să se întoarcă la Mine şi să fie vindecaţi!
11 Atunci am întrebat:
– Până când, Stăpâne?
El mi-a răspuns:
– Până când cetăţile vor fi prefăcute în ruină
şi vor fi lipsite de locuitori,
până când casele vor rămâne goale,
iar ogoarele devastate şi pustii;
12 până când Domnul îi va trimite pe toţi departe,
iar ţara va rămâne în întregime părăsită.
13 Chiar dacă o zecime va rămâne în ea,
aceasta va fi pustiită din nou.
Dar aşa cum unui terebint sau unui stejar
îi rămâne buturuga atunci când este tăiat,
tot aşa sămânţa sfântă va fi ca o buturugă în ţară.

6 In the year that King Uzziah(A) died,(B) I saw the Lord,(C) high and exalted,(D) seated on a throne;(E) and the train of his robe(F) filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphim,(G) each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet,(H) and with two they were flying. 3 And they were calling to one another:
4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.(M)
5 “Woe(N) to me!” I cried. “I am ruined!(O) For I am a man of unclean lips,(P) and I live among a people of unclean lips,(Q) and my eyes have seen(R) the King,(S) the Lord Almighty.”(T)
6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal(U) in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips;(V) your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.(W)”
8 Then I heard the voice(X) of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send?(Y) And who will go for us?(Z)”
And I said, “Here am I.(AA) Send me!”
9 He said, “Go(AB) and tell this people:
“‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding;
be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’(AC)
10 Make the heart of this people calloused;(AD)
make their ears dull
and close their eyes.[a](AE)
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,(AF)
understand with their hearts,
and turn and be healed.”(AG)
11 Then I said, “For how long, Lord?”(AH)
And he answered:
“Until the cities lie ruined(AI)
and without inhabitant,
until the houses are left deserted(AJ)
and the fields ruined and ravaged,(AK)
12 until the Lord has sent everyone far away(AL)
and the land is utterly forsaken.(AM)
13 And though a tenth remains(AN) in the land,
it will again be laid waste.(AO)
But as the terebinth and oak
leave stumps(AP) when they are cut down,
so the holy(AQ) seed will be the stump in the land.”(AR)
