Isaiah 55:8-11

⁸“For my thoughts^(A) are not your thoughts,
    neither are your ways my ways,”^(B)
declares the Lord.
⁹“As the heavens are higher than the earth,^(C)
    so are my ways higher than your ways
    and my thoughts than your thoughts.^(D)
¹⁰As the rain^(E) and the snow
    come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
    without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,^(F)
    so that it yields seed^(G) for the sower and bread for the eater,^(H)
¹¹so is my word^(I) that goes out from my mouth:
    It will not return to me empty,^(J)
but will accomplish what I desire
    and achieve the purpose^(K) for which I sent it.

Jesus the Great High Priest

¹⁴Therefore, since we have a great high priest^(A) who has ascended into heaven,^[a]^(B) Jesus the Son of God,^(C) let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.^(D) ¹⁵For we do not have a high priest^(E) who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are^(F)—yet he did not sin.^(G) ¹⁶Let us then approach^(H) God’s throne of grace with confidence,^(I) so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
