Woe to the Wicked

Woe to those who (A)join house to house,
    who add field to field,
until there is no more room,
and you are made to dwell alone
in the midst of the land.
The Lord of hosts has sworn in my hearing:
(B)“Surely many houses shall be desolate,
large and beautiful houses, without inhabitant.
10 (C)For ten acres[a] of vineyard shall yield but one bath,
and a (D)homer of seed shall yield but an ephah.”[b]

(B)In my hearing the Lord of hosts said,
“Truly, many houses shall be desolate,
Great and beautiful ones, without inhabitant.
10 For ten acres of vineyard shall yield one (C)bath,[b]
And a homer of seed shall yield one [c]ephah.”

Woes for the Wicked

Woe to those who (A)attach house to house and join field to field,
Until there is no more room,
And you alone are a landowner in the midst of the land!
In my ears the Lord of armies has sworn, “(B)Many houses shall certainly become (C)desolate,
Even great and fine ones, without occupants.
10 For (D)ten acres of vineyard will yield only one [a]bath of wine,
And a [b](E)homer of seed will yield only an [c]ephah of grain.”
