⁶ For a child is born to us,
    a son is given to us.
The government will rest on his shoulders.
    And he will be called:
Wonderful Counselor,^[a] Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

⁵ “For the time is coming,”
    says the Lord,
“when I will raise up a righteous descendant^[a]
    from King David’s line.
He will be a King who rules with wisdom.
    He will do what is just and right throughout the land.
⁶ And this will be his name:
    ‘The Lord Is Our Righteousness.’^[b]
In that day Judah will be saved,
    and Israel will live in safety.

²³ “Look! The virgin will conceive a child!
    She will give birth to a son,
and they will call him Immanuel,^[a]
    which means ‘God is with us.’”

Christ^[b] was revealed in a human body
    and vindicated by the Spirit.^[c]
He was seen by angels
    and announced to the nations.
He was believed in throughout the world
    and taken to heaven in glory.
