¹⁷ Therefore the Lord ^(A)will have no joy in their young men,
Nor have mercy on their fatherless and widows;
For everyone is a hypocrite and an evildoer,
And every mouth speaks ^[a]folly.

²¹ Therefore ^(A)deliver up their children to the famine,
And pour out their blood
By the force of the sword;
Let their wives become widows
And ^(B)bereaved of their children.
Let their men be put to death,
Their young men be slain
By the sword in battle.

⁶ I will send him against ^(A)an ungodly nation,
And against the people of My wrath
I will ^(B)give him charge,
To seize the spoil, to take the prey,
And to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

¹¹ When its boughs are withered, they will be broken off;
The women come and set them on fire.
For ^(A)it is a people of no understanding;
Therefore He who made them will ^(B)not have mercy on them,
And ^(C)He who formed them will show them no favor.

^25 (A)Therefore the anger of the Lord is aroused against His people;
He has stretched out His hand against them
And stricken them,
And ^(B)the hills trembled.
Their carcasses were as refuse in the midst of the streets.

¹² The Syrians before and the Philistines behind;
And they shall devour Israel with an open mouth.
