The Government of the Promised Son^(A)

²² Then they will look to the earth, and see trouble and darkness, gloom of anguish; and they will be driven into darkness.

⁴ So Ben-Hadad heeded King Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel. They attacked Ijon, Dan, Abel Maim, and all the storage cities of Naphtali.

²⁹ In the days of Pekah king of Israel, ^[a]Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria ^(A)came and took ^(B)Ijon, Abel Beth Maachah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali; and he ^(C)carried them captive to Assyria.

²⁶ So the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of ^(A)Pul king of Assyria, that is, ^(B)Tiglath-Pileser^[a] king of Assyria. He carried the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh into captivity. He took them to ^(C)Halah, Habor, Hara, and the river of Gozan to this day.

¹⁹ “Let there be a treaty between you and me, as there was between my father and your father. See, I have sent you a present of silver and gold. Come and break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel, so that he will withdraw from me.”

²⁰ So Ben-Hadad heeded King Asa, and ^(A)sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel. He attacked ^(B)Ijon, ^(C)Dan, ^(D)Abel Beth Maachah, and all Chinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.
