⁴ “But you, Daniel, ^(A)shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall ^(B)run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”

^5 (A)And Moses indeed was faithful in all His house as ^(B)a servant, ^(C)for a testimony of those things which would be spoken afterward,

³⁴ But without a parable He did not speak to them. And when they were alone, ^(A)He explained all things to His disciples.

The Purpose of Parables^(A)

^10 (B)But when He was alone, those around Him with the twelve asked Him about the parable. ¹¹ And He said to them, “To you it has been given to ^(C)know the ^[a]mystery of the kingdom of God; but to ^(D)those who are outside, all things come in parables,

¹¹ He answered and said to them, “Because ^(A)it has been given to you to know the ^[a]mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.

¹¹ The whole vision has become to you like the words of a ^[a]book ^(A)that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is literate, saying, “Read this, please.”

^(B)And he says, “I cannot, for it is sealed.”

¹² Then the book is delivered to one who ^[b]is illiterate, saying, “Read this, please.”

And he says, “I am not literate.”

¹⁰ And ^(A)I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, ^(B)“See that you do not do that! I am your ^(C)fellow servant, and of your brethren ^(D)who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the ^(E)testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

⁴ Now when the seven thunders ^[a]uttered their voices, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven saying ^[b]to me, ^(A)“Seal up the things which the seven thunders uttered, and do not write them.”
