Hear that uproar from the city,
    hear that noise from the temple!

“See, I am going to rouse them out of the places to which you sold them,(A) and I will return(B) on your own heads what you have done. I will sell your sons(C) and daughters to the people of Judah,(D) and they will sell them to the Sabeans,(E) a nation far away.” The Lord has spoken.(F)

Proclaim this among the nations:
    Prepare for war!(G)
Rouse the warriors!(H)
    Let all the fighting men draw near and attack.
10 Beat your plowshares into swords
    and your pruning hooks(I) into spears.(J)
Let the weakling(K) say,
    “I am strong!”(L)
11 Come quickly, all you nations from every side,
    and assemble(M) there.

Bring down your warriors,(N) Lord!

12 “Let the nations be roused;
    let them advance into the Valley of Jehoshaphat,(O)
for there I will sit
    to judge(P) all the nations on every side.
13 Swing the sickle,(Q)
    for the harvest(R) is ripe.
Come, trample the grapes,(S)
    for the winepress(T) is full
    and the vats overflow—
so great is their wickedness!”

14 Multitudes,(U) multitudes
    in the valley(V) of decision!
For the day of the Lord(W) is near
    in the valley of decision.(X)
15 The sun and moon will be darkened,
    and the stars no longer shine.(Y)
16 The Lord will roar(Z) from Zion
    and thunder from Jerusalem;(AA)
    the earth and the heavens will tremble.(AB)
But the Lord will be a refuge(AC) for his people,
    a stronghold(AD) for the people of Israel.

both your sins(F) and the sins of your ancestors,”(G)
    says the Lord.
“Because they burned sacrifices on the mountains
    and defied me on the hills,(H)
I will measure into their laps
    the full payment(I) for their former deeds.”
