“I will extend peace^(A) to her like a river,^(B)
    and the wealth^(C) of nations like a flooding stream;
you will nurse and be carried^(D) on her arm
    and dandled on her knees.

¹⁸ If only you had paid attention^(A) to my commands,
    your peace^(B) would have been like a river,^(C)
    your well-being^(D) like the waves of the sea.

¹⁶ You will drink the milk of nations
    and be nursed^(A) at royal breasts.
Then you will know^(B) that I, the Lord, am your Savior,^(C)
    your Redeemer,^(D) the Mighty One of Jacob.^(E)

¹⁹ “Though you were ruined and made desolate^(A)
    and your land laid waste,^(B)
now you will be too small for your people,^(C)
    and those who devoured^(D) you will be far away.
²⁰ The children born during your bereavement
    will yet say in your hearing,
‘This place is too small for us;
    give us more space to live in.’^(E)
21 Then you will say in your heart,
    ‘Who bore me these?^(F)
I was bereaved^(G) and barren;
    I was exiled and rejected.^(H)
    Who brought these^(I) up?
I was left^(J) all alone,^(K)
    but these—where have they come from?’”

“See, I will beckon to the nations,
    I will lift up my banner^(M) to the peoples;
they will bring^(N) your sons in their arms
    and carry your daughters on their hips.^(O)
23 Kings^(P) will be your foster fathers,
    and their queens your nursing mothers.^(Q)
They will bow down^(R) before you with their faces to the ground;
    they will lick the dust^(S) at your feet.
Then you will know that I am the Lord;^(T)
    those who hope^(U) in me will not be disappointed.^(V)”

“The products^(A) of Egypt and the merchandise of Cush,^[a]
    and those tall Sabeans^(B)—
they will come over to you^(C)
    and will be yours;
they will trudge behind you,^(D)
    coming over to you in chains.^(E)
They will bow down before you
    and plead^(F) with you, saying,
‘Surely God is with you,^(G) and there is no other;
    there is no other god.^(H)’”

¹¹ For you will nurse^(A) and be satisfied
    at her comforting breasts;^(B)
you will drink deeply
    and delight in her overflowing abundance.”^(C)

⁶ And you will be called priests^(A) of the Lord,
    you will be named ministers of our God.
You will feed on the wealth^(B) of nations,
    and in their riches you will boast.

⁷ Of the greatness of his government^(A) and peace^(B)
    there will be no end.^(C)
He will reign^(D) on David’s throne
    and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
    with justice^(E) and righteousness^(F)
    from that time on and forever.^(G)
The zeal^(H) of the Lord Almighty
    will accomplish this.
