⁸ For if Joshua had given them rest, God^[a] would not speak later about another day. ⁹ So then, a Sabbath rest still remains for the people of God, ¹⁰ for those who enter God’s^[b] rest also rest from their labors as God did from his. ¹¹ Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one may fall through such disobedience as theirs.

Joshua Exhorts the People

23 A long time afterward, when the Lord had given rest to Israel from all their enemies all around and Joshua was old and well advanced in years,^(A)

¹² so that we, who were the first to set our hope on Christ, might live for the praise of his glory.

⁶ to the praise of his glorious grace that he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.

⁵ Then the Levites Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah said, “Stand up and bless the Lord your God from everlasting to everlasting. Blessed be your glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise.”^(A)

¹³ And now, our God, we give thanks to you and praise your glorious name.

²³ Who is like your people, like Israel? Is there another^[a] nation on earth whose God went to redeem it as a people and to make a name for himself, doing^[b] great and awesome things, driving out^[c] nations and their gods before your people, whom you redeemed for yourself from Egypt?^(A)
