“It is I, announcing vindication,
    mighty to save.”^(A)

⁵ When my sword has drunk its fill in the heavens,
    upon Edom it will fall,
    upon the people I have doomed to judgment.^(A)
6 The Lord has a sword; it is sated with blood;
    it is gorged with fat,
    with the blood of lambs and goats,
    with the fat of the kidneys of rams.
For the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah,
    a great slaughter in the land of Edom.^(B)

⁷ Remember, O Lord, against the Edomites
    the day of Jerusalem’s fall,
how they said, “Tear it down! Tear it down!
    Down to its foundations!”^(A)

² “Why are your robes red
    and your garments like theirs who tread the winepress?”^(A)

³ “I have trodden the winepress alone,
    and from the peoples no one was with me;
I trod them in my anger
    and trampled them in my wrath;
their juice spattered on my garments,
    and I stained all my robes.^(B)

¹¹ Thus says the Lord:
For three transgressions of Edom,
    and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,^[a]
because he pursued his brother with the sword
    and cast off all pity;
he maintained his anger perpetually^[b]
    and kept his wrath^[c] forever.^(A)
12 So I will send a fire on Teman,
    and it shall devour the strongholds of Bozrah.^(B)
