⁸ Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I; send me!”^(A)

¹⁰ But Moses said to the Lord, “O my Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor even now that you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.”^{(A) 11} Then the Lord said to him, “Who gives speech to mortals? Who makes them mute or deaf, seeing or blind? Is it not I, the Lord?^{(B) 12} Now go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you are to speak.”^{(C) 13} But he said, “O my Lord, please send someone else.”

¹⁶ But get up and stand on your feet, for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you to serve and testify to the things in which you have seen me^[a] and to those in which I will appear to you.^{(A) 17} I will rescue you from your people and from the gentiles—to whom I am sending you^(B)

⁸ Although I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given to me to bring to the gentiles the news of the boundless riches of Christ^(A)

²¹ Then he said to me, ‘Go, for I will send you far away to the gentiles.’ ”^(A)

The Righteousness of God’s Judgment

²⁰ Immediately they left their nets and followed him.^{(A) 21} As he went from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John, in the boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets, and he called them. ²² Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.

²⁴ But I do not count my life of any value to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the good news of God’s grace.^(A)

²⁵ So they disagreed with each other, and as they were leaving Paul made one further statement: “The Holy Spirit was right in saying to your ancestors through the prophet Isaiah,

²⁸ “Let it be known to you, then, that this salvation of God has been sent to the gentiles; they will listen.”^[a]

³³ Has any people ever heard the voice of a god speaking out of a fire, as you have heard, and lived?^{(A) 34} Or has any god ever attempted to go and take a nation for himself from the midst of another nation, by trials, by signs and wonders, by war, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, and by terrifying displays of power, as the Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your very eyes?^{(B) 35} To you it was shown so that you would acknowledge that the Lord is God; there is no other besides him.^{(C) 36} From heaven he made you hear his voice to discipline you. On earth he showed you his great fire, while you heard his words coming out of the fire.^(D)
