²³ And the nations will know that the people of Israel went into exile for their sin, because they were unfaithful to me. So I hid my face from them and handed them over to their enemies, and they all fell by the sword.^{(A) 24} I dealt with them according to their uncleanness and their offenses, and I hid my face from them.^(B)

¹⁷ And in that day I will become angry^(A) with them and forsake^(B) them; I will hide^(C) my face^(D) from them, and they will be destroyed. Many disasters^(E) and calamities will come on them, and in that day they will ask, ‘Have not these disasters come on us because our God is not with us?’^{(F) 18} And I will certainly hide my face in that day because of all their wickedness in turning to other gods.

²⁹ I will no longer hide my face^(A) from them, for I will pour out my Spirit^(B) on the people of Israel, declares the Sovereign Lord.^(C)”
