¹⁰ You grew weary from your many wanderings,
    but you did not say, “It is no use!”
You found your desire rekindled,
    and so you did not weaken.^(A)

²⁵ Keep your feet from going bare
    and your throat from thirst.
But you said, “It is no use,
    for I have loved strangers,
    and after them I will go.”^(A)

³ O Lord, do your eyes not look for truth?
You have struck them,
    but they felt no anguish;
you have consumed them,
    but they refused to take correction.
They have made their faces harder than rock;
    they have refused to turn back.^(A)

¹³ Is it not from the Lord of hosts
    that peoples labor only to feed the flames
    and nations weary themselves for nothing?

¹² In vain I have wearied myself;^[a]
    its thick crud does not depart.
    To the fire with its crud!

⁵ They all deceive their neighbors,
    and no one speaks the truth;
they have taught their tongues to speak lies;
    they commit iniquity and are too weary to repent.^[a](A)

³ Therefore the showers have been withheld,
    and the spring rain has not come,
yet you have the forehead of a prostitute;
    you refuse to be ashamed.^(A)
