^8 (A)Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. ^(B)Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and ^(C)purify your hearts, you double-minded. ^9 (D)Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. ^10 (E)Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

²¹ “But ^(A)if a wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. ^22 (B)None of the transgressions which he has committed shall be remembered against him; because of the righteousness which he has done, he shall ^(C)live. ^23 (D)Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?” says the Lord God, “and not that he should turn from his ways and live?

¹⁰ Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

^10 (A)Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it.

¹⁴ Again, ^(A)when I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ if he turns from his sin and does ^[a]what is lawful and ^[b]right, ¹⁵ if the wicked ^(B)restores the pledge, ^(C)gives back what he has stolen, and walks in ^(D)the statutes of life without committing iniquity, he shall surely live; he shall not die. ^16 (E)None of his sins which he has committed shall be remembered against him; he has done what is lawful and right; he shall surely live.

^15 (A)This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that ^(B)Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. ¹⁶ However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.
