^24 (A)who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, ^(B)that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—^(C)by whose ^[a]stripes you were healed. ²⁵ For ^(D)you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned ^(E)to the Shepherd and ^[b]Overseer of your souls.

Christ’s Suffering and Ours

¹⁸ For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring ^[a]us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,

^28 (A)just as the ^(B)Son of Man did not come to be served, ^(C)but to serve, and ^(D)to give His life a ransom ^(E)for many.”

²¹ For ^(A)He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become ^(B)the righteousness of God in Him.

Christ in Our Place

⁶ For when we were still without strength, ^[a]in due time ^(A)Christ died for the ungodly. ⁷ For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. ⁸ But ^(B)God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. ⁹ Much more then, having now been justified ^(C)by His blood, we shall be saved ^(D)from wrath through Him. ¹⁰ For ^(E)if when we were enemies ^(F)we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved ^(G)by His life.

¹⁴ For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being ^[a]sanctified.
