⁶⁷ Then they spit in his face and struck him with their fists.^(A) Others slapped him

⁶⁵ Then some began to spit at him; they blindfolded him, struck him with their fists, and said, “Prophesy!” And the guards took him and beat him.^(A)

¹⁹ Again and again they struck him on the head with a staff and spit on him. Falling on their knees, they paid homage to him.

The Guards Mock Jesus^(A)

⁶³ The men who were guarding Jesus began mocking and beating him. ⁶⁴ They blindfolded him and demanded, “Prophesy! Who hit you?”

³⁰ They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again.^(A)

²² When Jesus said this, one of the officials^(A) nearby slapped him in the face.^(B) “Is this the way you answer the high priest?” he demanded.
