⁹ The Lord of hosts has sworn in my hearing:
Surely many houses shall be desolate,
    large and beautiful houses, without inhabitant.^(A)

¹⁴ The Lord of hosts has revealed himself in my ears:
“Surely this iniquity will not be forgiven you until you die,”
    says the Lord God of hosts.^(A)

¹¹ Therefore because you trample on the poor
    and take from them levies of grain,
you have built houses of hewn stone,
    but you shall not live in them;
you have planted pleasant vineyards,
    but you shall not drink their wine.^(A)

⁷ Surely the Lord God does nothing
    without revealing his secret
    to his servants the prophets.^(A)

¹⁰ For the fortified city is solitary,
    a habitation deserted and forsaken, like the wilderness;
the calves graze there;
    there they lie down and strip its branches.^(A)

¹¹ Then I said, “How long, O Lord?” And he said,
“Until cities lie waste
    without inhabitant,
and houses without people,
    and the land is utterly desolate;^(A)
12 until the Lord sends everyone far away,
    and vast is the emptiness in the midst of the land.^(B)
