⁴ Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers^(A) who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries^(B) of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty.^(C)

⁸ Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.^{(A) 9} And do not think you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’^(B) I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. ¹⁰ The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.^(C)

⁸ Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers and sisters.^{(A) 9} Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God?^(B) Do not be deceived:^(C) Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers^(D) nor men who have sex with men^{[a](E) 10} nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers^(F) will inherit the kingdom of God. ¹¹ And that is what some of you were.^(G) But you were washed,^(H) you were sanctified,^(I) you were justified^(J) in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

² He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit,^(A) while every branch that does bear fruit^(B) he prunes^[a] so that it will be even more fruitful.

⁷ And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out^(A) to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?

²³ “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth^(A) of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness.^(B) You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
