⁴ Behold, ^(A)the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying out against you, and ^(B)the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of ^(C)the Lord of hosts.

⁸ Bear fruit ^(A)in keeping with repentance. ⁹ And do not presume to say to yourselves, ^(B)‘We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you, God is able from ^(C)these stones to raise up children for Abraham. ¹⁰ Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. ^(D)Every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

⁸ But you yourselves wrong and defraud—even ^(A)your own brothers!^[a]

⁹ Or do you not know that the unrighteous^[b] will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: ^(B)neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,^{[c] 10} nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. ¹¹ And ^(C)such were some of you. But ^(D)you were washed, ^(E)you were sanctified, ^(F)you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

^2 (A)Every branch in me that does not bear fruit ^(B)he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, ^(C)that it may bear more fruit.

⁷ And ^(A)will not God give justice to ^(B)his elect, ^(C)who cry to him day and night? ^(D)(E)Will he delay long over them?

^23 (A)“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ^(B)you tithe mint and dill and ^(C)cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: ^(D)justice and mercy and faithfulness. ^(E)These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others.

⁹ “Thus says the Lord of hosts, ^(A)Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another, ^10 (B)do not oppress the widow, the fatherless, the sojourner, ^(C)or the poor, and ^(D)let none of you devise evil against another in your heart.” ¹¹ But ^(E)they refused to pay attention ^(F)and turned a stubborn shoulder and stopped their ears that they might not hear.^{[a] 12 (G)}They made their hearts diamond-hard ^(H)lest they should hear the law and the words that the Lord of hosts had sent ^(I)by his Spirit through ^(J)the former prophets. ^(K)Therefore great anger came from the Lord of hosts. ^13 (L)“As I^[b] called, and they would not hear, ^(M)so they called, and I would not hear,” says the Lord of hosts, ^14 (N)“and I scattered them with a whirlwind among all ^(O)the nations that they had not known. ^(P)Thus the land they left was desolate, ^(Q)so that no one went to and fro, ^(R)and the pleasant land was made desolate.”
