¹¹ And this whole land shall be a desolation and an astonishment, and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy ^(A)years.

Impending Judgment on the Earth

^19 (A)Then they burned the house of God, broke down the wall of Jerusalem, burned all its palaces with fire, and destroyed all its precious possessions. ²⁰ And ^(B)those who escaped from the sword he carried away to Babylon, ^(C)where they became servants to him and his sons until the rule of the kingdom of Persia, ²¹ to fulfill the word of the Lord by the mouth of ^(D)Jeremiah, until the land ^(E)had enjoyed her Sabbaths. As long as she lay desolate ^(F)she kept Sabbath, to fulfill seventy years.

⁶ These ^(A)have power to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy; and they have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire.

^6 [a]if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, ^(A)since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.

⁷ For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it, and bears herbs useful for those by whom it is cultivated, ^(B)receives blessing from God; ^8 (C)but if it bears thorns and briers, it is rejected and near to being cursed, whose end is to be burned.

²⁴ And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles ^(A)until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

The Nations Worship the King

¹⁶ And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall ^(A)go up from year to year to ^(B)worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep ^(C)the Feast of Tabernacles. ^17 (D)And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, on them there will be no rain.
