²¹ When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are safe; ^22 (A)but when one stronger than he attacks him and ^(B)overcomes him, he takes away his ^(C)armor in which he trusted and ^(D)divides his spoil.

²⁹ Or ^(A)how can someone enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? Then indeed ^(B)he may plunder his house.

¹³ And after all that has come upon us for our evil deeds and for ^(A)our great guilt, seeing that you, our ^(B)God, have punished us less than our iniquities deserved and have given us such a ^(C)remnant as this,

^9 (A)For we are slaves. Yet our God has not forsaken us in our slavery, ^(B)but has extended to us his steadfast love before the kings of Persia, to grant us some reviving to set up the house of our God, to repair its ruins, and to give us protection^[a] in Judea and Jerusalem.

¹¹ Then he said to me, ^(A)“Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and ^(B)our hope is lost; ^(C)we are indeed cut off.’
