² and if in a truthful, just and righteous way
    you swear,^(A) ‘As surely as the Lord lives,’^(B)
then the nations will invoke blessings^(C) by him
    and in him they will boast.^(D)”

²⁶ Praise God in the great congregation;^(A)
    praise the Lord in the assembly of Israel.^(B)

⁸ “‘These people honor me with their lips,
    but their hearts are far from me.
⁹ They worship me in vain;
    their teachings are merely human rules.^(A)’^[a](B)”

¹⁶ Whoever invokes a blessing^(A) in the land
    will do so by the one true God;^(B)
whoever takes an oath in the land
    will swear^(C) by the one true God.
For the past troubles^(D) will be forgotten
    and hidden from my eyes.

²³ By myself I have sworn,^(A)
    my mouth has uttered in all integrity^(B)
    a word that will not be revoked:^(C)
Before me every knee will bow;^(D)
    by me every tongue will swear.^(E)

²⁸ So Israel will live in safety;^(A)
    Jacob will dwell^[a] secure
in a land of grain and new wine,
    where the heavens drop dew.^(B)
