¹¹ “The merchants^(A) of the earth will weep and mourn^(B) over her because no one buys their cargoes anymore^(C)— ¹² cargoes of gold, silver, precious stones and pearls; fine linen, purple, silk and scarlet cloth; every sort of citron wood, and articles of every kind made of ivory, costly wood, bronze, iron and marble;^{(D) 13} cargoes of cinnamon and spice, of incense, myrrh and frankincense, of wine and olive oil, of fine flour and wheat; cattle and sheep; horses and carriages; and human beings sold as slaves.^(E)

¹⁴ “They will say, ‘The fruit you longed for is gone from you. All your luxury and splendor have vanished, never to be recovered.’ ¹⁵ The merchants who sold these things and gained their wealth from her^(F) will stand far off,^(G) terrified at her torment. They will weep and mourn^{(H) 16} and cry out:

“Every sea captain, and all who travel by ship, the sailors, and all who earn their living from the sea,^(M) will stand far off.^{(N) 18} When they see the smoke of her burning,^(O) they will exclaim, ‘Was there ever a city like this great city^(P)?’^{(Q) 19} They will throw dust on their heads,^(R) and with weeping and mourning^(S) cry out:

¹² “‘Tarshish^(A) did business with you because of your great wealth of goods;^(B) they exchanged silver, iron, tin and lead for your merchandise.

¹³ “‘Greece,^(C) Tubal and Meshek^(D) did business with you; they traded human beings^(E) and articles of bronze for your wares.

¹⁴ “‘Men of Beth Togarmah^(F) exchanged chariot horses, cavalry horses and mules for your merchandise.

¹⁵ “‘The men of Rhodes^[a](G) traded with you, and many coastlands^(H) were your customers; they paid you with ivory^(I) tusks and ebony.

¹⁶ “‘Aram^[b](J) did business with you because of your many products; they exchanged turquoise,^(K) purple fabric, embroidered work, fine linen,^(L) coral^(M) and rubies for your merchandise.

¹⁷ “‘Judah and Israel traded with you; they exchanged wheat^(N) from Minnith^(O) and confections,^[c] honey, olive oil and balm^(P) for your wares.^(Q)

¹⁸ “‘Damascus^(R) did business with you because of your many products and great wealth of goods.^(S) They offered wine from Helbon, wool from Zahar ¹⁹ and casks of wine from Izal^(T) in exchange for your wares: wrought iron, cassia^(U) and calamus.

²⁰ “‘Dedan^(V) traded in saddle blankets with you.

²¹ “‘Arabia^(W) and all the princes of Kedar^(X) were your customers; they did business with you in lambs, rams and goats.

²² “‘The merchants of Sheba^(Y) and Raamah traded with you; for your merchandise they exchanged the finest of all kinds of spices^(Z) and precious stones, and gold.^(AA)

²³ “‘Harran,^(AB) Kanneh and Eden^(AC) and merchants of Sheba, Ashur^(AD) and Kilmad traded with you. ²⁴ In your marketplace they traded with you beautiful garments, blue fabric, embroidered work and multicolored rugs with cords twisted and tightly knotted.
