²³ This is what the Lord says:

²⁷ for all of you who were baptized into Christ^(A) have clothed yourselves with Christ.^{(B) 28} There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free,^(C) nor is there male and female,^(D) for you are all one in Christ Jesus.^{(E) 29} If you belong to Christ,^(F) then you are Abraham’s seed,^(G) and heirs^(H) according to the promise.^(I)

¹⁷ But, “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”^[a](A)

¹¹ And that is what some of you were.^(A) But you were washed,^(B) you were sanctified,^(C) you were justified^(D) in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

³¹ Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”^[a](A)

God’s Sovereign Choice

⁶ It is not as though God’s word^(A) had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.^{(B) 7} Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham’s children. On the contrary, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.”^{[a](C) 8} In other words, it is not the children by physical descent who are God’s children,^(D) but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring.^(E)

³³ Who will bring any charge^(A) against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. ³⁴ Who then is the one who condemns?^(B) No one. Christ Jesus who died^(C)—more than that, who was raised to life^(D)—is at the right hand of God^(E) and is also interceding for us.^(F)
