⁹ And he said, “Go, and say to this people:

^2 (A)“Son of man, you dwell in the midst of ^(B)a rebellious house, ^(C)who have eyes to see, but see not, who have ears to hear, but hear not, for they are ^(D)a rebellious house.

⁴ In their case ^(A)the god of this world ^(B)has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing ^(C)the light of ^(D)the gospel of the glory of Christ, ^(E)who is the image of God. ⁵ For what ^(F)we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ^(G)ourselves as your servants^[a] for Jesus' sake. ⁶ For God, who said, ^(H)“Let light shine out of darkness,” ^(I)has shone in our hearts to give ^(J)the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

¹⁸ They know not, nor do they discern, for he has shut their eyes, so that they cannot see, and their hearts, so that they cannot understand. ¹⁹ No one considers, nor is there knowledge or discernment to say, “Half of it I burned in the fire; I also baked bread on its coals; I roasted meat and have eaten. And shall I make the rest of it an ^(A)abomination? Shall I fall down before a block of wood?” ^20 (B)He feeds on ^(C)ashes; a deluded heart has led him astray, and he cannot deliver himself or say, “Is there not ^(D)a lie in my right hand?”

Israel's Failure to Hear and See

^2 [a] And Moses summoned all Israel and said to them: ^(A)“You have seen all that the Lord did before your eyes in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh and to all his servants and to all his land, ³ the great ^(B)trials that your eyes saw, the signs, and those great wonders. ⁴ But to this day ^(C)the Lord has not given you a heart to understand or eyes to see or ears to hear.
