¹⁹ Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? Indeed, have they delivered ^(A)Samaria from my hand?

Judgment on Damascus

^23 (A)Against Damascus.

¹¹ Look! You have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by utterly destroying them; and shall you be delivered? ¹² Have the ^(A)gods of the nations delivered those whom my fathers have destroyed, Gozan and Haran and Rezeph, and the people of Eden who were in Telassar? ¹³ Where is the king of ^(B)Hamath, the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah?’ ”

¹⁰ And at the end of three years they took it. In the sixth year of Hezekiah, that is, ^(A)the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken. ^11 (B)Then the king of Assyria carried Israel away captive to Assyria, and put them ^(C)in Halah and by the Habor, the River of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes, ¹² because they ^(D)did not obey the voice of the Lord their God, but transgressed His covenant and all that Moses the servant of the Lord had commanded; and they would neither hear nor do them.

Assyria Resettles Samaria

^24 (A)Then the king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, Cuthah, ^(B)Ava, Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel; and they took possession of Samaria and dwelt in its cities.

Israel Carried Captive to Assyria^(A)

⁵ Now ^(B)the king of Assyria went throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria and besieged it for three years. ^6 (C)In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria took Samaria and ^(D)carried Israel away to Assyria, ^(E)and placed them in Halah and by the Habor, the River of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

⁷ For ^(F)so it was that the children of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, who had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and they had ^(G)feared other gods,

⁹ When ^[a]Toi king of ^(A)Hamath heard that David had defeated all the army of Hadadezer,

⁸ from Mount Hor you shall mark out your border ^(A)to the entrance of Hamath; then the direction of the border shall be toward ^(B)Zedad;
