¹¹ All who are incensed against you
    shall be ashamed and disgraced;
those who strive against you
    shall be as nothing and shall perish.^(A)
12 You shall seek those who contend with you,
    but you shall not find them;
those who war against you
    shall be as nothing at all.^(B)

⁶ Someone will seize a relative,
    a member of the clan, saying,
“You have a cloak;
    you shall be our leader,
and this heap of ruins
    shall be under your rule.”^(A)
7 But the other will cry out on that day, saying,
“I will not be a healer;
    in my house there is neither bread nor cloak;
you shall not make me
    leader of the people.”^(B)
8 For Jerusalem has stumbled,
    and Judah has fallen,
because their speech and their deeds are against the Lord,
    defying his glorious presence.^(C)

¹⁶ Alas for you, O land, when your king is a child
    and your princes feast in the morning!^(A)
17 Happy are you, O land, when your king is a nobleman,
    and your princes feast at the proper time—
    for strength and not for drunkenness!^(B)
