⁴ For his princes were at ^(A)Zoan,
And his ambassadors came to Hanes.

^9 (A)You went to the king with ointment,
And increased your perfumes;
You sent your ^(B)messengers far off,
And even descended to Sheol.

¹⁶ They return, but not ^[a]to the Most High;
^(A)They are like a treacherous bow.
Their princes shall fall by the sword
For the ^(B)cursings of their tongue.
This shall be their derision ^(C)in the land of Egypt.

¹¹ “Ephraim^(A) also is like a silly dove, without ^[a]sense—
^(B)They call to Egypt,
They go to ^(C)Assyria.
¹² Wherever they go, I will ^(D)spread My net on them;
I will bring them down like birds of the air;
I will chastise them
^(E)According to what their congregation has heard.

^18 (A)At ^[a]Tehaphnehes the day shall also be ^[b]darkened,
When I break the yokes of Egypt there.
And her arrogant strength shall cease in her;
As for her, a cloud shall cover her,
And her daughters shall go into captivity.

¹⁴ I will make ^(A)Pathros desolate,
Set fire to ^(B)Zoan,
^(C)And execute judgments in ^[a]No.
