⁸ I will instruct^(A) you and teach you^(B) in the way you should go;
    I will counsel you with my loving eye on^(C) you.

⁵ Trust in the Lord^(A) with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
⁶ in all your ways submit to him,
    and he will make your paths^(B) straight.^[a](C)

¹¹ The Lord will guide^(A) you always;
    he will satisfy your needs^(B) in a sun-scorched land^(C)
    and will strengthen^(D) your frame.
You will be like a well-watered garden,^(E)
    like a spring^(F) whose waters never fail.

¹⁶ I will lead^(A) the blind^(B) by ways they have not known,
    along unfamiliar paths I will guide them;
I will turn the darkness into light^(C) before them
    and make the rough places smooth.^(D)
These are the things I will do;
    I will not forsake^(E) them.

⁸ And a highway^(A) will be there;
    it will be called the Way of Holiness;^(B)
    it will be for those who walk on that Way.
The unclean^(C) will not journey on it;
    wicked fools will not go about on it.
⁹ No lion^(D) will be there,
    nor any ravenous beast;^(E)
    they will not be found there.
But only the redeemed^(F) will walk there,

“Stand at the crossroads and look;
    ask for the ancient paths,^(A)
ask where the good way^(B) is, and walk in it,
    and you will find rest^(C) for your souls.
    But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’

⁸ Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,^(A)
    for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way^(B) I should go,
    for to you I entrust my life.^(C)
9 Rescue me^(D) from my enemies,^(E) Lord,
    for I hide myself in you.
¹⁰ Teach me^(F) to do your will,
    for you are my God;^(G)
may your good Spirit
    lead^(H) me on level ground.^(I)
