^2 (A)The mighty man and the man of war,
The judge and the prophet,
And the diviner and the elder;

³ And I will cut off ^(A)the judge from its midst,
And slay all its princes with him,”
Says the Lord.

¹² Princes were hung up by their hands,
And elders were not respected.
¹³ Young men ^(A)ground at the millstones;
Boys staggered under loads of wood.
¹⁴ The elders have ceased gathering at the gate,
And the young men from their ^(B)music.

¹⁴ Therefore the Lord will cut off head and tail from Israel,
Palm branch and bulrush ^(A)in one day.
¹⁵ The elder and honorable, he is the head;
The prophet who teaches lies, he is the tail.

¹³ Upon all ^(A)the cedars of Lebanon that are high and lifted up,
And upon all the oaks of Bashan;
^14 (B)Upon all the high mountains,
And upon all the hills that are lifted up;
¹⁵ Upon every high tower,
And upon every fortified wall;
