⁷ But this is what the Sovereign Lord says:

⁴⁰ “Then at the time of the end, the king of the south will attack the king of the north. The king of the north will storm out with chariots, charioteers, and a vast navy. He will invade various lands and sweep through them like a flood.

The Coming Day of Judgment

4 ^[a]The Lord of Heaven’s Armies says, “The day of judgment is coming, burning like a furnace. On that day the arrogant and the wicked will be burned up like straw. They will be consumed—roots, branches, and all.

² “But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings.^[b] And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture. ³ On the day when I act, you will tread upon the wicked as if they were dust under your feet,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

¹⁵ Then the angel said to me, “The waters where the prostitute is ruling represent masses of people of every nation and language.

¹⁵ Then the dragon tried to drown the woman with a flood of water that flowed from his mouth.

²⁶ “After this period of sixty-two sets of seven,^[a] the Anointed One will be killed, appearing to have accomplished nothing, and a ruler will arise whose armies will destroy the city and the Temple. The end will come with a flood, and war and its miseries are decreed from that time to the very end. ²⁷ The ruler will make a treaty with the people for a period of one set of seven,^[b] but after half this time, he will put an end to the sacrifices and offerings. And as a climax to all his terrible deeds,^[c] he will set up a sacrilegious object that causes desecration,^[d] until the fate decreed for this defiler is finally poured out on him.”
