⁹ “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.^(A)

²¹ Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”^{(A) 22} When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. ²³ If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”^(B)

¹⁴ Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.^{(A) 15} Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. ¹⁶ Live in harmony with one another; do not be arrogant, but associate with the lowly;^[a] do not claim to be wiser than you are.^{(B) 17} Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.^{(C) 18} If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.^{(D) 19} Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God,^[b] for it is written, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says the Lord.”^{(E) 20} Instead, “if your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them something to drink, for by doing this you will heap burning coals on their heads.” ²¹ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

⁴ Rejoice^[a] in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.^{[b](A) 5} Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near.^{(B) 6} Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.^{(C) 7} And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.^(D)

⁸ Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about^[c] these things. ⁹ As for the things that you have learned and received and heard and noticed in me, do them, and the God of peace will be with you.^(E)

Acknowledgment of the Philippians’ Gift

¹⁰ I rejoice^[d] in the Lord greatly that now at last you have revived your concern for me; indeed, you were concerned for me but had no opportunity to show it.^{[e](F) 11} Not that I am referring to being in need, for I have learned to be content with whatever I have.^(G)

²³ May the God of peace himself sanctify you entirely, and may your spirit and soul and body be kept sound^[a] and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.^{(A) 24} The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do this.^(B)

¹⁵ And let the peace of Christ^[a] rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.^(A)
