⁴⁵ But the people said to Saul, “Shall Jonathan die, who has accomplished this great deliverance in Israel? Certainly not! ^(A)As the Lord lives, not one hair of his head shall fall to the ground, for he has worked ^(B)with God this day.” So the people rescued Jonathan, and he did not die.

¹³ But Saul said, ^(A)“Not a man shall be put to death this day, for today ^(B)the Lord has accomplished salvation in Israel.”

⁷ And Joshua said, “Alas, Lord ^[a]God, ^(A)why have You brought this people over the Jordan at all—to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? Oh, that we had been content, and dwelt on the other side of the Jordan! ⁸ O Lord, what shall I say when Israel turns its ^[b]back before its enemies? ⁹ For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear it, and surround us, and ^(B)cut off our name from the earth. Then ^(C)what will You do for Your great name?”
