¹² This is the plague with which the Lord will strike^(A) all the nations that fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.^{(B) 13} On that day people will be stricken by the Lord with great panic.^(C) They will seize each other by the hand and attack one another.^{(D) 14} Judah^(E) too will fight at Jerusalem. The wealth of all the surrounding nations will be collected^(F)—great quantities of gold and silver and clothing. ¹⁵ A similar plague^(G) will strike the horses and mules, the camels and donkeys, and all the animals in those camps.

¹⁶ Then the survivors^(H) from all the nations that have attacked Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship^(I) the King,^(J) the Lord Almighty, and to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles.^{(K) 17} If any of the peoples of the earth do not go up to Jerusalem to worship^(L) the King, the Lord Almighty, they will have no rain.^{(M) 18} If the Egyptian people do not go up and take part, they will have no rain. The Lord^[a] will bring on them the plague^(N) he inflicts on the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles.^{(O) 19} This will be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles.^(P)

¹² When the Lord has finished all his work^(A) against Mount Zion^(B) and Jerusalem, he will say, “I will punish the king of Assyria^(C) for the willful pride^(D) of his heart and the haughty look^(E) in his eyes.

¹⁸ so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and the mighty, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people,^(A) free and slave,^(B) great and small.”^(C)

¹⁹ Then I saw the beast^(D) and the kings of the earth^(E) and their armies gathered together to wage war against the rider on the horse^(F) and his army. ²⁰ But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet^(G) who had performed the signs^(H) on its behalf.^(I) With these signs he had deluded^(J) those who had received the mark of the beast^(K) and worshiped its image.^(L) The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake^(M) of burning sulfur.^{(N) 21} The rest were killed with the sword^(O) coming out of the mouth of the rider on the horse,^(P) and all the birds^(Q) gorged themselves on their flesh.

Threefold Woe Over Babylon’s Fall

⁹ “When the kings of the earth who committed adultery with her^(A) and shared her luxury^(B) see the smoke of her burning,^(C) they will weep and mourn over her.^(D)

¹⁴ They will wage war^(A) against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over^(B) them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings^(C)—and with him will be his called, chosen^(D) and faithful followers.”

¹⁴ The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up,^(A) and every mountain and island was removed from its place.^(B)

¹⁵ Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free,^(C) hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains.^{(D) 16} They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us^(E) and hide us^[a] from the face of him who sits on the throne^(F) and from the wrath of the Lamb! ¹⁷ For the great day^(G) of their^[b] wrath has come, and who can withstand it?”^(H)

²¹ “Tell Zerubbabel^(A) governor of Judah that I am going to shake^(B) the heavens and the earth. ²² I will overturn^(C) royal thrones and shatter the power of the foreign kingdoms.^(D) I will overthrow chariots^(E) and their drivers; horses and their riders^(F) will fall, each by the sword of his brother.^(G)
