²² And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; ^(A)but for the ^[a]elect’s sake those days will be shortened.

² But leave out ^(A)the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, ^(B)for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will ^(C)tread the holy city underfoot for ^(D)forty-two months. ³ And I will give power to my two ^(E)witnesses, ^(F)and they will prophesy ^(G)one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.”

^4 [a]You have ^(A)a few names ^[b]even in Sardis who have not ^(B)defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me ^(C)in white, for they are worthy.

² God has not cast away His people whom ^(A)He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel, saying, ^3 (B)“Lord, they have killed Your prophets and torn down Your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life”? ⁴ But what does the divine response say to him? ^(C)“I have reserved for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” ^5 (D)Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace. ⁶ And ^(E)if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. ^[a]But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.

Israel Restored

^22 (A)Yet behold, there shall be left in it a remnant who will be ^(B)brought out, both sons and daughters; surely they will come out to you, and ^(C)you will see their ways and their doings. Then you will be comforted concerning the disaster that I have brought upon Jerusalem, all that I have brought upon it. ²³ And they will comfort you, when you see their ways and their doings; and you shall know that I have done nothing ^(D)without cause that I have done in it,” says the Lord God.

¹⁶ Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Although I have cast them far off among the Gentiles, and although I have scattered them among the countries, ^(A)yet I shall be a little ^[a]sanctuary for them in the countries where they have gone.” ’ ¹⁷ Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: ^(B)“I will gather you from the peoples, assemble you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.” ’ ¹⁸ And they will go there, and they will take away all its ^(C)detestable things and all its abominations from there. ¹⁹ Then ^(D)I will give them one heart, and I will put ^(E)a new spirit within ^[b]them, and take ^(F)the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh, ^20 (G)that they may walk in My statutes and keep My judgments and do them; ^(H)and they shall be My people, and I will be their God.
