¹⁷ He also made ^(A)three hundred shields of hammered gold; three minas of gold went into each shield. The king put them in the ^(B)House of the Forest of Lebanon.

² He also built the ^(A)House of the Forest of Lebanon; its length was ^[a]one hundred cubits, its width ^[b]fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits, with four rows of cedar pillars, and cedar beams on the pillars.

Sennacherib Boasts Against the Lord^(A)

36 Now ^(B)it came to pass in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah that Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah and took them. ² Then the king of Assyria sent the ^[a]Rabshakeh with a great army from Lachish to King Hezekiah at Jerusalem. And he stood by the aqueduct from the upper pool, on the highway to the Fuller’s Field. ³ And ^(C)Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, ^(D)Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph, the recorder, came out to him.

²⁷ Then King Rehoboam made bronze shields in their place, and ^[a]committed them to the hands of the captains of the ^[b]guard, who guarded the doorway of the king’s house. ²⁸ And whenever the king entered the house of the Lord, the guards carried them, then brought them back into the guardroom.
